Andrew Katzander, an avid mountain biker, says he put his "crazy idea" to the test after he asked a couple of industrial-design pals from Pratt Institute to help him pimp his ride for the Halloween Parade.

The feedback was so overwhelming, he turned it into a business.

At an eye-popping $300 for the first hour (and $200 after that), Katzander hopes his PoleRider will be a hit at bachelor parties.

PoleRider was originally conceived as a NYC Halloween parade float to raise awareness of the immense potential of pedal power and the imagination and to promote cycling in New York City. PoleRider is a bicycle powered mobile dance pole.

Marlo had a hard time keeping herself from popping out of her outfit. No worries. Here is the first YouTube clip of Marlo Dancing in the Halloween Parade in a light up tutu. Amazing! The action starts at about a minute and 15 seconds. DONT MISS THIS!

Getting ready...we needed police protection while the dancers changed into their costumes. The NYPD did an amazing job in the midst of total mayhem and all with smiles and a great sense of humor. THANKS! That's George our official stage Mom on the right. He did a great job as dresser, make-up artist, photographer, bouncer, and the list goes on...

The idea hit me one night while riding my OM Flyer along the river past a club across the highway that rhymes with rustler. When I discussed the concept and feasibility with my friends
Jonathan of DesignRider and Lee Kuwahara we knew immediately that it had to be done. A few weeks later we built the first PoleRider.

I Found a couple of dancers on Craigslist and yes, there were auditions. Getting invited to watch an advanced pole dancing class by the teacher Marlo was an experience I won't soon forget. Her specialty is extreme splits upside down on the pole. We just finished our first dry run last night so she could get a feel for dancing on a moving bike and practice spins without kicking me in the head.

Pictures are from Friday night when I did a test run with my other dancer PlayJoy who was way less shy and took her clothes off in the middle of the street. We rolled slowly through Alphabet City while she danced for everyone. There was a traffic jam that went for blocks, a pack of drooling boys on bikes trailing slackjawed behind us and cops leaning out their windows and climbing over each other taking pictures with everyone else.

After I dropped her off, I started to ride back to where I park but women were running out of bars and clubs begging me for a ride. At one point two drunk college girls were fighting for a turn. Girlfriends were posing for their boyfriends. Several times I had to stop women from taking their clothes off. It was insane! The Cameras never stopped. All night long people were throwing money at us giving me numbers and inviting me to events and parties. I split the tips with whoever was dancing at the time. It was a wild night that went on til 5AM I can't tell you how many times I got kicked in the head and flashed ;) The best ride of my life without a doubt! I LOVE my new job!!!
